General Submissions:

The Soap Factory general submission deadline has passed, and we are no longer accepting artist or curatorial submissions for our 2016 calendar. A new call will go out later in 2016, date TBD. Keep checking our site or follow us on social media sites for posted info later this year.

About Our Submissions:

The Soap Factory exhibits work in its galleries throughout the year. Group exhibitions curated from submissions could have as many as 8 artists. Projects by individual artists that propose to use the entire 12,000 sq feet of gallery space are always encouraged.

We are particularly interested in proposals conceived specifically for The Soap Factory galleries. Our programming is unique in that we select only a small proportion of the artists we exhibit from our pool of submissions.

We commonly receive 300 artist submissions per season. Examples of artists shown by The Soap Factory from submissions: Nadine Anderson, Matt Bakkom, Nina Lola Bachhuber, Ernest Arthur Bryant III, David Bartley, Ian Burns, Santiago Cucullu, E-Team, Omer Fast, Harrell Fletcher, Isa Gagarin, Michael Gaughan, Amber Ginsburg, Jay Heikes, Alexa Horochowski, Margaret Kilgallen, Chris Lawrence, Keith Lemley, Rita MacDonald, Joseph Madrigal, Rodney McMillian, Clive Murphy, Wil Natzel, Kelly Nipper, Carl Pope Jr, David Rathman, Patrick Scully, Slinko, Xavier Tavera, Bruce Tapola, Traci Tullius.

Review Process:

Submissions at The Soap Factory are reviewed by a panel of jurors and selected for exhibition in our submission show. When considering submitting a proposal to The Soap Factory please consider the raw, industrial nature of our building. The Soap Factory is a rewarding, but challenging space for exhibition. Successful artists consider how our architecturally complex building can support their proposal.

Before Applying:

A measured floorplan of our galleries can be found here:

Please read the following:

We provide publicity, exhibition invitations, mailings, opening reception and artist talks. We do not provide insurance coverage for work exhibited at The Soap Factory. All work is shown at the artist's own risk.

The Soap Factory is housed in a 130-year old industrial warehouse near the banks of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. We just welcomed our much anticipated air conditioning and heating system, but we are still housed in an old warehouse, dust accumulates often; please bear this in mind when submitting your work.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions are only accepted online through the submission process. Submissions for the 2016 calendar are no longer being excepted; a new call will go out later in 2016, date TBD. Keep checking our site or follow us on social media sites for posted info later this year. To learn more about our process and gear up for future calls, read below:
