Hot Off The (H.O.T.) is a literary and visual art project by Tiff Hockin and Ariel Pate, of Art Review and Preview (ARP!). Driven by a desire to bring the written word back into concrete form, to remember books as objects, and to democratically encourage would-be authors to publish their work, H.O.T. is at once an independent publishing house, library, and reading room. During the month of August, the editors will be in-residence at The Soap Factory, taking submissions, editing works, and printing and binding books. Anyone may submit a manuscript. As many as forty works will be published over the course of the project. All materials will be published in editions of ten and offered for sale in the gallery.
In addition to offering editing and publishing services, H.O.T. will partner with other organizations in a series of special events, ranging from book-binding to book-mending, and much more.
Call for Submissions
We’re in search of some printable matter!
Hot Off The assumes its post at the Soap Factory at the end of July. We would like to open our doors with ten published works (we’ll call these the “Opening Ten”). During the run of our project, we will publish ten items each week with a total of forty works printed.
Works will be accepted on a rolling basis.
