The $99 Sale at The Soap Factory is back and looking for submissions!
You can help raise important program funds for the region's largest laboratory for experimentation in contemporary art. Submit your original 8 x10" artwork by FRIDAY, AUGUST 2nd to contribute to this fundraiser.
This year, we're changing the submission process. The invitation to submit is an open call, and all works selected will be chosen by Ben Heywood, Executive Director of The Soap Factory. All selected artists receive a free ticket to the $99 Sale, a fantastic evening of food, drink and music. Work not selected can be picked up at The Soap Factory or returned via US Mail.
HOW TO SUBMIT:
1. Create an 8 x 10" work on any surface that hangs flat on a wall.
2. Sign only the back.
3. Mail with the art with a cover sheet that lists name, address, e-mail and website (if you have one for your work) to:
The Soap Factory, 514 Second St NE, Minneapolis, MN 55414
or drop it off at The Soap Factory - mail slot or gallery sitter, your choice.
Please make sure your contact information is legible on the cover sheet - it's the only way we have to let you know about selection and who bought your work!
History:
The $99 Sale was dreamed up in a meeting in 2006, in response to how awful silent auctions can be…asking someone to donate a painting that represents a fifth of his or her income is just not supportive of emerging artists. The $99 Sale is a fundraiser designed to be respectful of an artist’s time and resources, while challenging the notion of artistic value…all work at the sale is worth exactly the same amount.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
